Diane and Lucia

Diane, a physical therapist at a hospital in the Bay Area, graduated from CCI with Facility Dog Lusia in November 2002. Diane says, "Lusia helps motivate patients to do their exercises. Lusia will lay by a patient's side with her head on their stomach while they do their exercises or wait in a down stay at the end of the hallway while they struggle to walk that last ten feet so they can pet Lusia. Patients who are depressed suddenly brighten up when Lusia walks in to their room. Instead of seeing a person in a wheelchair, people see a person with a dog by their side, and that is a very good thing to see!" Lusia was puppy raised by Vicki and Frank Munoz of Roseville, CA.
