Madeleine and Donahue

Donahue is a very special CCI Facility Dog who helps many people. Her partner is Madeleine and they visit patients at Mercy San Juan Hospital in Sacramento. They spend much of their time with patients in the oncology unit. Madeleine and Donahue were asked to visit a terminally ill AIDS patient. He insisted he didn't want company until he saw Donahue enter the room. After a short time both were peacefully asleep on the bed. The nurses were amazed at how much more peaceful this patient was after visiting with Donahue. It appears that sometimes an animal can bring comfort where a human cannot. That's where Donahue and other CCI facility dogs come in.
